Customer Challenge
To reduce costs, the customer had been purchasing third-party (compatible) cartridges from another vendor. However, they repeatedly encountered a problem where the cartridge could not be seated in the printer during replacement. The vendor was unable to resolve the issue, and while the customer considered returning to OEM supplies, budget constraints prevented it. The situation remained unresolved.
Our Proposal & Implementation
We asked the customer to stop using compatible cartridges and arranged a sufficient number of used, Japan-market OEM toner cartridges. Because the compatible toner powder itself was equivalent in quality to the OEM, we transferred that powder into the emptied OEM cartridges in our facility and supplied them as recycled cartridges that use OEM-equivalent toner powder.
This approach delivered reliable performance while meeting the customer’s price target.

Given the high print volume and corresponding toner spend, switching from OEM to our recycled solution significantly reduced costs, directly supporting the customer’s profitability. Because the powder quality matched OEM, the customer could continue receiving manufacturer maintenance in parallel, resolving operational concerns.
