Case Study: Enable In-House A3 Output in a Small Office—Eliminate Laser Warm-Up Delays and Downtime with an A3 Inkjet MFP
Device
Brother MFC-J6983CDW (A3-capable inkjet multifunction printer) with dual high-capacity trays + multi-purpose tray. Output speed: approx. 20 ppm (A4 color) / 22 ppm (A4 mono). No fuser unit—reduces warm-up latency and fuser-related stoppages.

Customer Challenge
The customer relied on a compact A4 color laser MFP due to space constraints. However, some proposals and client-facing materials required A3 for layout and readability, which they could not produce in-house. Aging hardware increased failure frequency and business interruptions. They needed higher availability and client-ready print quality without installing a large floor-standing MFP.
Our Proposal
We replaced the A4 laser MFP with an A3-capable pigment-ink inkjet MFP to deliver A3 print/scan in a compact footprint while removing the fuser warm-up dependency inherent to electrophotographic systems. To cut admin overhead and stabilize costs, we bundled a 36-month flat-rate service plan (SubLow®) with ink included and maintenance covered—reducing procurement workload and eliminating unpredictable repair expenses.
Results / Business Impact
The customer gained in-house A3 full-color print and scan with a device that remains far smaller than typical A3 color laser MFPs (about 61% smaller by volume), while maintaining practical client-facing quality. Faster first-page responsiveness improved daily document workflows. Moving from ad-hoc toner purchasing to a fixed monthly plan removed consumables inventory and ordering work, and the included maintenance reduced financial risk from unexpected breakdowns—supporting stable operations for a lean office.
