お客様の課題
電子カルテ入替に伴い、短期間に200台規模のパソコン廃棄が発生しました。情報システム部門としては、端末の資産管理と引取の段取りに加え、ハードディスクに残る可能性がある診療関連情報や個人情報を、確実に物理的破壊で消去したいという要件がありました。一方で総務部門と経営としては、廃棄費用が膨らみやすい局面で、予算を抑えながらも、処理の確実性と証跡性を落としたくないというジレンマがありました。実現したいことは、費用を抑えて回収し、確実に物理的破壊でデータを消去できることでした。
弊社の提案と工夫
当社は、回収から破壊までの工程を分断しない運用設計を提案しました。まず自社便で回収し、搬出時点から管理番号単位でトレーサビリティを確保し、受領から処理までの受け渡しを曖昧にしない運用にしました。回収後は全台を分解してハードディスクを取り出し、穿孔による穴あけ作業で物理的破壊を実施し、磁気記録面を破断させて復元可能性を現実的に断ちました。回収、ＰＣ分解、ＨＤＤ／ＳＳＤ摘出、物理的破壊、分別（廃棄と再利用）までを一連の工程として組み、処理の再現性が出る手順に落とし込みました。
お客様のメリット
結果として、予算内で回収とデータ消去を完了できました。対象となったハードディスクは物理的破壊により消去し、情報漏えいリスクの懸念を大きく低減できました。また一部はお客様側でデータ消去を実施し、院内ルールに沿った形で全体を完了できています。さらにパソコン本体だけでなく、キーボード、マウスなどの付属品もまとめて回収できたため、部署ごとの片付け負担や廃棄手配の手戻りを抑えられました。情報システム部門は処理の確実性と工程の見える化を得られ、総務部門は一括回収で事務負担を圧縮でき、代表者は予算内でリスクを抑えた判断として説明しやすい形に整理できました。

Case Summary: Secure, Budget-Controlled Disposal of 200 Windows PCs During an EHR Refresh
A 300-bed general hospital in Nagoya needed to retire 200 Windows PCs in a short window as part of an electronic health record (EHR) replacement. The priority was to prevent workflow delays while ensuring residual patient and personal data could not be recovered. Delivery No. 25071201.

We provided end-to-end collection of 200 retired Windows PCs and assured data eradication focused on storage media.
Customer Challenges
The IT team needed a practical plan for asset collection and chain-of-custody while meeting strict requirements for secure destruction of any data remaining on HDDs/SSDs. Administration and executives also needed to keep total disposal costs within budget without sacrificing proof of proper handling.
Our Approach
We designed a process that avoids handoffs and gaps from pickup to destruction. Devices were collected by our own logistics, tracked by management ID from the point of removal, and handled under a clear chain-of-custody. After collection, each PC was disassembled, storage media were removed, and physical destruction was performed by drilling/puncture to render the recording surface unrecoverable. The workflow covered pickup, PC teardown, HDD/SSD extraction, physical destruction, and sorting for recycling versus reuse—standardized to ensure repeatable outcomes.
Results and Benefits
The hospital completed collection and data elimination within budget. Physical destruction of storage media significantly reduced concerns about information leakage from retired devices. Where required by internal policy, the hospital also performed part of the data wiping on its side, and the overall program was completed in compliance with hospital rules. We also collected peripherals such as keyboards and mice, reducing internal cleanup time and minimizing rework in disposal arrangements. IT gained operational certainty and visibility; administration reduced coordination burden; leadership achieved a defensible, budget-aligned risk decision.
Why We Are Selected
Our principle is simple: what must be discarded is the information, not necessarily the device. While leaks originating from retired PCs may not be the largest category overall, the risk becomes real when the final destination of a device is unknown. We therefore prioritize process control and physical destruction of storage media to eliminate residual data risk. At the same time, we avoid unnecessary whole-unit scrapping by refurbishing usable equipment and returning it to productive use, supporting organizations and individuals while reducing waste.
